The three companions - Cardhu, Æðelred and Cedric - arrived back from their eventful hunting expidition feeling decidedly more battered and bemused than any of them would have liked. Considering the hour and their tiredness, they retire to their rooms in the small inn located off the village green.
The following moring, Cardhu and Æðelred rouse from their cots, and after some brief ablutions, Æðelred wanders downstairs to arrange for breakfast, followed soon after by Cardhu. As the two of them tuck into a light meal of ale, bread and cheese, Cardu asks if they should wake Cedric. Laughing, Æðelred simply shakes his head. After a moment, he looks up and sees a slightly confused look on Cardhu’s face.
“I knocked on his door, but he didn't answer ... he’s managed to persuade the Inn-keeper’s daughter to run him a bath ...” Cardhu just grinned and went back to eating his breakfast.
After breakfast, with no sign of Cedric reappearing any time soon, Æðelred suggests that he needs to go and get some provisions for their journey, and heads off to speak to some of the merchants. Still feeling very stiff and sore from the previous nights action, Cardhu decides to seek out the village herbalist. He’s soon directed to one of the better-maintained buildings on the southern street running from the village green.
